Texing out of the country?

I live in the united states and i have a friend that live in United Kingom. I have a verizon phone with unlimited texting to any network I was wonering if anyone knew if I coul text smy friend in the UK with the same texting rules or if it would cost me extra money...? If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated...thanks :)
