Why did Edgar Allan Poe chose that quote for the beginning of "The Fall of the House of Usher"?

"The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe uses the quote, "Son coeur est un luth suspendu; sitot qu'on le touche il resonne," in the beginning of the short story. It transates, "the heart is a suspended lute; when one touches it, it echoes." I just want to know why he used it and what relation it has to the story. Thanks.
